Credit card linking allows guests to earn points but does not allow for automatic point redemption in Canada, Ireland, and the U.K.

Link a Credit Card to a Loyalty Account

The following steps can take place at either a full-service or quick-service restaurant:

  1.  The guest, during checkout, uses a credit or debit card to pay for an order. 
  2.  They then sign up or attach their loyalty account to an order (Make sure you have digital receipts turned on for this step). 
  3. The loyalty account and card are now linked! 
  4. When they use that same card again, the guest will automatically earn points on that order or be prompted to redeem their reward if they have earned enough points. 
  5. Guests can also link additional credit or debit cards to their existing loyalty account by attaching their loyalty information to another order.
    • Note: Credit Card linking for points redemption is not currently available in Canada, Ireland, and the U.K.

Link a Credit or Debit Card on a Guest Facing Display or Kiosk

  1.  The guest, during checkout, uses a credit or debit card to pay for an order. 
  2.  They will be prompted to sign up for rewards on the guest facing display
    1. If this guest already has an account they will need to select "Lookup My Account" and proceed to login with their reward email or reward phone number.
Note: A credit card can not be linked through Online Ordering, the Local by Toast app, mobile payments, or Toast Mobile Order & Pay®.

Verify Linked Cards

Linked cards do not need to be verified in order for the guest to earn points automatically through them. 

Yet, in order to redeem points, if more than one card is linked to their loyalty account, guests must verify the card. This is a security measure to ensure linked cards actually belong to the owner of the loyalty account. 

How to Verify Linked Cards:

On a guest's E-Rewards Card, there is a section at the bottom where guests can verify, update or remove linked credit cards.

Credit Card Linking with Split Payment and Split Checks

On individual checks that have split payments, Toast Loyalty will only identify the loyalty account from the first payment applied. If there is more than one payment on a check and a loyalty account is attached using manual lookup, new credit card links will not be established.

If multiple different guests are paying with different credit cards, and each guest would like to attach individual loyalty accounts with their linked credit card, use split checks to split the order into multiple checks with a single payment on each check.
